Cultural Reclamation as Healing

Why it matters: Colonization and slavery disrupted language, ritual, and identity. Reconnecting restores dignity and belonging.

              Practices:

  • Learn ancestral languages, names, or songs – even fragments carry power.
  • Practice traditional arts (weaving, drumming, dance, herbal medicine, grounding, beadwork, etc.) that reconnect body and spirit to lineage.
  • Reclaim spirituality – through ancestral reverence, African traditional religions, or indigenous ceremonies that honor land, elements, and community.
  • Celebrate cultural holidays and rites of passage intentionally.
